NYESOM WIKE: LOOSE CANNON OR POLITICAL PRODIGY? DELE MOMODU DROPS BOMBSHELLS IN VIRAL FACEBOOK BROADSIDE”

In what may go down as one of the most blistering public takedowns of a serving minister in recent times, celebrated media mogul and political commentator Chief Dele Momodu has unleashed a scathing and theatrical critique of Nyesom Wike, Nigeria’s controversial Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, likening him to “a bull in a china shop” on a rampage through Nigeria’s fragile democracy.

Published via his personal Facebook page, Momodu’s fiery post quickly went viral across social media, sparking heated debate over Wike’s political style, his verbal bravado, and the spectacle of power in contemporary Nigerian politics.

THE RANT THAT ROCKED TV: “SPITTLE THAT COULD FLOAT A CANOE”

The trigger? Wike’s explosive appearance on Politics Today, a flagship political program on Channels TV, hosted by Seun Okinbaloye. In what viewers described as a volcanic performance, the FCT Minister reportedly took no prisoners, throwing verbal jabs at perceived political opponents, critics, and anyone who dared to challenge his grip on influence.

But it was Dele Momodu who took it personally — and publicly.

“He was obviously soaked in some esoteric spirits,” Momodu wrote, describing Wike’s appearance as a “full rampage” and accusing him of recklessly trampling on the pillars of democracy.

He didn’t stop there. In a line now immortalized online, Momodu added:

“The amount of spittle he wasted this night alone would conveniently float a canoe in Rivers State.”

CHAMPAGNE, PERFUMES & POLITICS: THE UNSEEN SIDE OF WIKE

While Wike is known for his fiery oratory and unapologetic bravado, Momodu pulled back the curtain on their personal interactions, revealing a softer, and more image conscious side of the minister. According to the Ovation publisher, Wike once sought his help to reshape his public image.

“I tooched him up like a beauty therapist and introduced him to some exclusive champagnes and perfumes,” Momodu claimed, adding that Wike often instructed his ADC to stash the gifts upstairs immediately.

The post is peppered with high-society references and backroom anecdotes, including Wike allegedly inviting Momodu for photo-ops “first thing in the morning” to enhance his image and style. “He started dressing better than when we met,” Momodu wrote. “He was our boy then.”

A MAN CHANGED BY POWER?

Momodu’s piece hints at a deeper critique, that power has changed Wike. From an ambitious underling watching from the sidelines during the Rotimi Amaechi era to a man now calling national shots from Abuja, Wike, in Momodu’s eyes, has become increasingly disconnected and aggressive.

“Too much money has turned him into a rude kid,” Momodu stated.

He even dismissed Wike’s jab that he once ate “his food,” calling it “crass” and unworthy of anyone’s culinary excitement.

“As stupendously wealthy as he is, his food was not the type anyone would savor.”

RIGHT OF REPLY: MOMODU FIRES BACK

In a strategic move, Momodu revealed that he has requested a right of reply from Channels TV; the very platform where Wike launched his latest verbal offensive.
He promised to “copiously show Nigerians, and President Bola Tinubu in particular, the type of loose cannon he has unleashed on hapless citizens in the name of politics.”

The looming showdown could take Nigeria’s political theatre to new heights as both men are known for their sharp tongues and cult-like followings.

REACTIONS: NIGERIANS DIVIDED

The online reactions have been explosive. While some hailed Momodu for “saying what many were afraid to voice,” others accused him of airing personal grievances in public.

“This is not just journalism, this is warfare,” tweeted a political analyst.

Others questioned whether the feud is rooted in political ideology or bruised egos from past associations gone sour.

THE TWIST: BEYOND PERSONALITY … A WARNING FOR DEMOCRACY?

Behind the insults and flamboyant storytelling lies a deeper warning: that unchecked power, no matter how popular or flamboyant the holder, poses a threat to the democratic process.

Momodu’s words may be wrapped in wit and sarcasm, but his central thesis is clear: Nigeria’s democracy cannot thrive with ‘bulls’ rampaging unchecked in the china shop of governance.

FINAL THOUGHT:

As the 2027 elections draw near and political tensions simmer, this latest clash between two public titans offers a glimpse into the high drama, ego battles, and behind-the-scenes rivalries shaping Nigeria’s political future.

Whether Wike will respond in kind, or escalate the war of words, remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: in Nigeria’s political circus, no stage is too big, and no ego too small.
