PINL Stakeholders Meeting Highlights Commitment to Niger Delta Youth Empowerment and Pipeline Security
The Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) stakeholders' meeting, held in Port Harcourt on July 15 and 16, 2025, underscored the company's dedication to empowering Niger Delta youth and securing pipelines in the region.
Dr. Akpos Mezeh, PINL's General Manager of Community and Stakeholder Relations, emphasized the company's dual mission of protecting both pipelines and people in the Niger Delta. He highlighted the success of PINL's Children and Youth Empowerment Scheme, which has made a tangible impact in remote communities, fostering hope and opportunities for young people.
The meeting, attended by host communities, traditional rulers, and representatives, focused on strengthening collaboration to protect national assets like the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP). Mezeh credited the near-zero infractions on the TNP to strong community partnerships, timely salary payments, and swift dispute resolution. PINL's surveillance responsibilities have expanded to include gas infrastructure and all national oil and gas assets in the Eastern Corridor, reflecting the trust placed in the company by authorities.
Community leaders and stakeholders praised PINL's efforts but urged greater action on environmental and health concerns, such as gas flaring.
Mezeh reaffirmed PINL's alignment with the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing sustainable development and peacebuilding in the region.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all parties to deepen cooperation, enhance surveillance, and promote inclusive development, ensuring that initiatives like the Children and Youth Empowerment Scheme continue to uplift Niger Delta communities.
