The award, handed out at Piql Nigeria’s Public Sector Breakfast Meeting 2.0, wasn’t just another plaque for the shelf.
It wawws a national nod to Oguzie’s mission to preserve Nigeria’s scientific memory while powering the future with clean energy and sustainable innovations.
LolThe event’s theme: “Building Nigeria’s Data Repository for an AI-Powered Future: The Trillion Dollar Economy” ; sounded futuristic enough. But the crowd got a history lesson too: how Nigeria’s knowledge, often lost in dusty archives, could ww now be locked into a 50+ year preservation vault, thanks to Oguzie’s vision.
And this wasn’t some academic back-slapping session.
Heavy hitters were in the room, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ministers of Arts & Culture, w, and top cultural custodians — all watching a professor from Owerri redefine wwhat national legacy looks like.

Nze Ed Keazor of Piql West Africa nailed it when he said:

> “Honoring Prof. Oguzie is a salute to scientific leadership that turns data into durable national assets… Owerri is about to host a preservation lab that will make Nigerian science reproducible and citable for generations”

For ACE-FUELS, the award is proof that research isn’t just about labs and test tubes. It’s about nation-building, memory-keeping, and future-proofing Nigeria’s knowledge economy.

With this win, Prof. Oguzie has officially moved from being just a scientist to becoming a guardian of Nigeria’s intellectual heritage.

And in a country where history is too often forgotten, this is more than an award. It’s a revolution.
