COBA Mourns the Passing of a Beloved Brother: Chief Golden Nnanna Dibia Laid to Rest

Eleme, Rivers State – The Comprehensive Old Boys Association (COBA), led by Class of 1980, has bid a heartfelt farewell to one of its own

Late Chief Golden Nnanna Dibia, who was laid to rest in his hometown of Eleme Local Government Area. In a powerful show of unity, love, and enduring brotherhood, members of COBA turned out in large numbers to honor a man revered for his wisdom, humility, and deep sense of community.

Late Chief Dibia 62 was not only a respected elder in his class but also a distinguished traditional leader—the Mere Obinikiken and a Member of the Alesa Council of Chiefs and Elders His contributions to community development and the preservation of Eleme heritage earned him the admiration and respect of his people.

The COBA delegation was led by the association’s current president and classmate of the deceased, Barr. Idaimo Koko; who described Chief Dibia as “a steady pillar in our fold, whose life reflected grace, quiet strength, and unshakable commitment to the values we hold dear.” Among other distinguished old boys present was His Lordship, Hon. Justice Soubere Biambo, and Barr. Bestman Nwoka, who joined in paying tribute to their fallen friend.

The funeral was a blend of tradition and affection, marked by solemn rites, moving tributes, and an atmosphere filled with both mourning and celebration. “Golden lived his name,” said a fellow COBA member. “He brought light wherever he went. Even in silence, he led by example—with wisdom, dignity, and love.”

To the grieving Dibia family, the association extended deep condolences and solidarity. In their message, they wrote, “Golden belonged to all of us. He lived a life of honor, and his memory will continue to inspire generations of COBA members and his community.”
As the sun set over Alesa and Chief Golden Nnanna Dibia was laid to rest with full honors, friends, classmates, and loved ones stood united in reverence.
