Prof. Learned Silk Sir,
I have read your article based on your television interview wherein you raised alarm about the dangers of dictatorship due to the current trend towards one party state!!!
With all due respect, you are just being an alarmist!!!
Let me start by introducing to the title of one of the songs R. Kelly released in the year 1994: "I don't See Nothing Wrong..."!!!
I don't see nothing wrong with dictatorship that comes with a one party state in Nigeria, there is no laws that are broken not even the 1999 Nigerian Constitution!!!
You said that all the political parties now resemble: "beans, akara and moi-moi" that are made of the same ideological substance namely STOMACH INFRASTRUCTURE!!!
With all due respect, you are just being narrow-minded, it just shows that you are always patronising road-side moi-moi sellers!!!
The moi-moi that is sold inside MR. BIGGS or TANTALIZERS usually contain eggs and fish!!!
From a financial point of view, a one party state is more financially prudent for Nigeria!!!
As our Senate President, His Excellency Godswill Obot Akpabio-GOA has predicted in 2027 in his home Akwa Ibom State, the elections would be won as unopposed because there would be no opposition Presidential, Gubernatorial and Senatorial candidates!!!
This would ensure that the budget for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is reduced by at least 50%.
Incidents of vote buying would also be reduced by at least 50% because the candidates are unopposed!!!
Also, the National Assembly would be able to enact legislation within a few days instead of months because there would be no members of the opposition political parties to argue and debate against Bills especially Executive Bills.
After all, even now when there are still pockets of opposition party legislators did you hear any meaningful debate at the Senate on the day that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended???
And don't forget the best part, all the requests by His Excellency Mr. President of Nigeria for National Assembly approvals for loans would be enacted at the speed of light!!!
Afterall, we need more loans for infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway!!!
Don't forget we also need a one party state judiciary wherein there are no dissenting judgments, only concurring judgments!!!
This is the fastest solution to the longstanding problem of congestion of the dockets of all the courts of law in Nigeria (especially the docket of the Supreme Court)!!!
Even this brewing rivalry between the Nigerian Bar Association-NBA and the Nigerian Law Society (NLS) in a one party state, all this will end immediately!!!
I hope that with these foregoing points I have convinced you about the merits of a one party state as not necessarily resulting in dictatorship in Nigeria!!!
On this note, I rest my case!!!
