Abuja, Nigeria – The Sons of Nigeria, a patriotic civic organization committed to national unity, justice, and peace, has issued a strong condemnation following the recent massacre of innocent civilians in Benue State.
The group has described the incident as not only a national tragedy but a shameful failure of leadership and security governance in Nigeria.
In a statement released today, the organization expressed its deepest condolences to the victims’ families and the affected communities, while calling for urgent, visible, and responsible government action to prevent further bloodshed.
“This is not merely a tragic incident—it is an unforgivable indictment of the Nigerian state. The continued killings of Nigerians under the watch of those entrusted with their protection represent a moral and institutional failure of the highest order,” the statement reads.
The Sons of Nigeria condemned the routine pattern of mass killings, particularly in central and northern Nigeria, where countless lives have been lost with little accountability.
They declared that the time for statements and empty reassurances is over, demanding immediate, decisive, and sustained intervention.
Demands for Immediate Action
The organization is calling for the following urgent steps:
1. Immediate and Transparent Investigation:
A full-scale and impartial probe must be launched, with perpetrators brought to justice publicly and swiftly.
2. Restructuring Nigeria’s Security Architecture:
A decentralization of security operations is necessary to improve community-level response and intelligence.
3. Deployment of Strategic Intelligence:
Security agencies must act proactively using intelligence-based operations to prevent future attacks.
4. Increased Security Presence in Vulnerable Areas:
The government must ensure visible and responsive security in all identified conflict zones.
5. Comprehensive National Strategy on Insecurity:
A long-term approach must address land disputes, poverty, ethnic division, and governance failures that fuel violence.
6. Compensation and Support for Victims:
Survivors and displaced persons must receive immediate aid, psychosocial support, and opportunities to rebuild their lives.
7. Leadership Accountability:
Office holders and security chiefs who have failed to protect lives must be removed and held accountable. Inaction is complicity.
“No nation that values its future treats human lives with such disregard. We demand more than words—we demand justice, restitution, and a decisive end to these atrocities,” the Sons of Nigeria declared.
The group emphasized that the Benue massacre must be the last of its kind. They pledged to keep speaking out until every Nigerian—regardless of ethnicity, religion, or region—can live in peace, dignity, and safety.
